Retail & Showroom Web Design

Websites for kitchen, bathroom, furniture, flooring and independent retailers across the UK. Built around the photography, because that is what actually sells the work.

The website is not the shop. It gets people to the shop.

A kitchen is a fifteen-thousand-pound decision made over several weeks. A sofa gets sat on before it gets bought. Flooring is measured, quoted and fitted. Almost nothing a showroom sells is bought from a checkout, and sites built as though it might are the ones that underperform.

What the site is actually doing is earlier and more useful. Somebody three weeks from spending real money is building a shortlist of places to visit, and doing it on a phone in the evening. The showroom that looks like it has what they want gets the visit. The one with twelve thumbnails on a grey background does not.

That reframes the whole job: not conversion in the checkout sense, but getting a considered buyer through the door already half-persuaded.

Photography

Photography carries the sale

The pictures are the argument

Nobody buys a kitchen from a specification list. They buy it because they saw one that looked like the kitchen they want in their own house. The photography is not decoration on the page — it is the argument.

Stock photos give you away

Stock photography of somebody else’s products is transparent to anyone paying attention, and it is the fastest way to look like every other retailer. Real photographs of your own showroom and your own installations are the one asset a competitor cannot copy.

Big pictures, still fast

The technical difficulty is that good imagery is heavy and a slow site loses people before the pictures appear. Every image is optimised and sized for the device requesting it, so the photography does its job without costing load speed. That is standard on every responsive site we build.

Findability across hundreds of ranges

A showroom carrying two hundred kitchen styles has a navigation problem before it has a design problem. Somebody who wants a shaker kitchen in a painted finish does not want to scroll through contemporary handleless units to find it.

We tag products by style, finish, colour and material, then build search and filtering around those tags. For Somerset Stairlifts that meant filters built on a tagged catalogue of 208 products, so the right one turns up in seconds, and a filter never offers something that is not there.

The same logic applies to search itself. Buyers search specifically — shaker kitchens, handleless kitchens, engineered oak flooring — usually with a town attached. Pages matching those searches rank; one gallery page trying to cover everything does not.

Where a retailer needs to sell as well as show, we build e-commerce and integrate with stock and accounting systems including Sage 50 so the website and the back office stay in step.

What We Build

What this sector needs

Image-Led Design

Full-width photography of real installations, optimised so the pictures sell the work without costing load speed.

Product Tagging & Search

Ranges tagged by style, finish and colour with filtering built around them, so hundreds of options narrow to the right ones in seconds.

Managed In-House

A content management system your own team uses, so new ranges and current offers go up without a developer and the site never goes stale.

Prices

What it costs and how it works

Websites start from £69 a month for a focused site and £119 a month for a larger build with a content management system and individual service pages. Complex projects with e-commerce, bespoke tools or integrations are quoted. Full detail is on the pricing page.

Every price is fixed and agreed in writing before work starts. Anything outside your plan is quoted first: no scope creep, no invoice at the end larger than the quote. Hosting and support run from £45 a month on UK servers, on our Care plan, with every support request answered the same working day.

Mediatopia is deliberately small. You deal with the person who designs the site, builds it, hosts it and answers the phone when something needs changing — not an account manager or a junior learning on your project. It is why several clients have been with us for more than fifteen years. See the full case studies.

Common Questions

Retail & Showroom Web Design FAQs

How much does a showroom website cost?

A site built around a gallery and your ranges starts from £69 a month. A larger build with a content management system is £119 a month, and a fully loaded online shop is £169 a month. Stock integration is quoted.

Do I need e-commerce, or just a good gallery?

It depends what you sell. Kitchens, bathrooms and fitted furniture are measured, quoted and installed, so a gallery and a strong enquiry route usually outperforms a checkout. Flooring and smaller items sell online perfectly well.

How important is photography?

It is most of the job. Professional photography of your own showroom and installations will do more for the site than any design decision, and stock imagery of someone else’s products is obvious to anyone looking.

Can customers filter by style or range?

Yes. We tag products by style, finish, colour or any attribute that matters, then build search around those tags. For a showroom carrying hundreds of ranges it is the difference between finding something in seconds and giving up.

Should the site show prices?

Where you can, yes. Fitted products are usually quoted after a measure, so indicative pricing or a from-figure works better than silence. Publishing nothing at all loses enquiries to a competitor who gives people a sense of the range.

Can I update ranges and offers myself?

Yes, and for a showroom you should. A site advertising last spring’s offer does real damage to credibility. Everything we build is managed through a CMS your own team can use.
